On June 15, 2026, Tate offensive lineman Darell Villanueva announced his commitment to Florida International University. The 6-foot-5, 312-pound player became the second football recruit from the area to secure a commitment in two days, following Pace running back Makael Williams' choice of South Alabama. Villanueva received offers from Middle Tennessee State and FIU in mid-May and recently participated in a camp at the University of Tennessee. He expressed his enthusiasm for joining the Panthers.
