Darius Slayton competes for roster spot with New York Giants

Wide receiver Darius Slayton enters the 2026 season facing uncertainty regarding his role with the New York Giants. As the team's longest-tenured player, Slayton must prove his worth to head coach John Harbaugh and a new coaching staff. The receiving corps now features Malik Nabers, Odell Beckham Jr., Malachi Fields, and Darnell Mooney, complicating the rotation for snaps and targets. Slayton missed spring practices while recovering from double-sports hernia surgery and is still regaining full speed. He previously navigated roster uncertainty in 2022 before securing a three-year contract extension. The veteran continues to prepare for the season opener despite speculation regarding his status with the team.
