Dave Roberts confirms Shohei Ohtani remains active despite right knee pain

Los Angeles Dodgers manager Dave Roberts confirmed Wednesday that Shohei Ohtani continues to deal with right knee discomfort following a slide during Tuesday’s game. Ohtani experienced the pain after diving back to third base in the fifth inning against the St. Louis Cardinals. Roberts stated the injury is not severe enough to remove Ohtani from the lineup, as the designated hitter appeared on the roster for Wednesday’s contest. However, the recurring physical issues have forced the team to keep Ohtani from pitching and prevent his potential transition to a corner outfield role. Ohtani has also managed left knee issues related to a bipartite patella throughout the season, along with previous arm soreness and a hand blister.
