The athlete shared images of the damaged building on social media, noting that a Roland Garros towel was the only item recovered from the site. This incident follows a similar strike in January 2024 that damaged an apartment building belonging to the player's grandmother. Yastremska publicly challenged the WTA and ITF regarding their continued allowance of Russian and Belarusian players in international competition. Fellow Ukrainian player Marta Kostyuk also cited the ongoing conflict, referencing a separate incident where a rocket landed near her parents' home in Kyiv. Tennis authorities have maintained the participation of individual neutral athletes while keeping the national federations of Russia and Belarus suspended from ITF membership.
