Dayton safety Javawn Brooks earns Pioneer Football League defensive player honor

The Pioneer Football League named Dayton junior Javawn Brooks its Defensive Player of the Week following the team's season-opening win against Fairmont State. During the game at Welcome Stadium, Brooks recorded two interceptions in the second quarter that directly contributed to a pair of Flyers touchdowns. The defensive back also finished the contest with two tackles. Dayton secured a 43-17 victory and currently holds a 1-0 record to start the season. After serving as a reserve in 11 career games, Brooks secured a starting safety position during the most recent training camp. The team is now entering a bye week and is scheduled to host Thomas More on September 12.
