D.C. United defeats Columbus Crew 2-1 at Audi Field

D.C. United defeated the Columbus Crew 2-1 at Audi Field on Sept. 9, handing the visiting team another loss in their road campaign. Forward Tai Baribo scored both goals for D.C. United in the first half to establish a lead. Columbus midfielder Santiago Rodríguez recorded his second goal in two games early in the second half to cut the deficit, but the team could not complete a comeback. Columbus moved to 1-8-3 on the road this season following the result. The Crew previously earned a 3-0 victory against Colorado on Sept. 5, but were unable to carry that momentum into Washington. The club has 10 matches remaining to compete for a playoff spot in the Eastern Conference.
