Decelise Champion joins Wisconsin volleyball team following international competition

Sixteen-year-old volleyball prospect Decelise Champion arrived in Madison on September 1 to join the University of Wisconsin program. The freshman recently competed for the Puerto Rico senior national team in the NORCECA Continental Championship, where she earned all-tournament recognition as the best scorer and second-best spiker. Despite her performance, Wisconsin coach Kelly Sheffield indicated a debut in the September 2 match against Florida is unlikely due to the physical toll of her recent tournament schedule. Champion will navigate the transition to college life while balancing a demanding athletic schedule at the collegiate level. Sheffield noted that the freshman will face an adjustment period as she adapts to both the academic environment and a new team system.
