Rudi Völler, sporting director of the German national team, has called for reforms in the rules governing national team eligibility in football. He advocates that players should finalize their national team commitments by age 18, criticizing the current system that permits changes to eligibility later. Völler expressed his views in comments published by the Funke media group. He believes these changes could streamline national team selections and reduce complications arising from late decisions on eligibility.
