Deebo Samuel records first touchdown after returning to the 49ers

Deebo Samuel scored his first touchdown since returning to the San Francisco 49ers during a Week 1 matchup against the Los Angeles Rams in Australia. With 12:57 remaining in the fourth quarter, Samuel caught a 15-yard pass from Brock Purdy to help the 49ers move ahead 24-7 following an extra point by Eddy Pineiro. The play took place on second-and-8 from the 15-yard line. This marks Samuel's first season back with the franchise after he was traded to the Washington Commanders in March 2025. He spent one season in Washington before re-signing with San Francisco this offseason on a one-year contract. Samuel rejoined the roster while the team manages a thinner wide receiver group due to an injury to Ricky Pearsall.
