Defensive back Evian Thompson leads Washburn early in senior season

Evian Thompson has transitioned to the Washburn defense as a senior transfer following three seasons at Sul Ross State University. During his junior campaign in the Lone Star Conference, the defensive back recorded 105 tackles, including 68 solo stops. Through two games into his debut season at Washburn, Thompson has accumulated seven tackles, four of which were solo, alongside two tackles for a loss of 13 yards. Coaching staff credited the transfer with providing a veteran presence and steady leadership since his arrival on campus this past winter. Washburn is scheduled to play Northwest Missouri State on Saturday at 1:30 p.m.
