Defensive end Sam Okuayinonu stays home as 49ers travel to Australia

The San Francisco 49ers departed for Melbourne, Australia, this week ahead of their season-opening matchup against the Los Angeles Rams at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. Defensive end Sam Okuayinonu did not join the team on the flight due to a foot injury. With the game set for next week, his status remains questionable. The 49ers are currently managing a thin defensive rotation, with Mykel Williams already on injured reserve. Both Nick Bosa and Romello Height are also dealing with injuries as the team prepares to face Matthew Stafford. If the current injured group remains unavailable, the team may look to Keion White, Ogbo Okoronkwo, and VJ Anthony to fill the edge defensive responsibilities.
