Dennis Peterson honored at Bemidji Speedway Hall of Fame induction

On August 6, Dennis Peterson was inducted into the Bemidji Speedway Hall of Fame during a special ceremony at the quarter-mile dirt track where he has been a prominent figure for six decades. Peterson, known for his photography and storytelling, received a standing ovation from a near-sellout crowd during the intermission. Despite believing that only racers should be inducted, Peterson was recognized for his significant contributions and longstanding presence at the track. His involvement dates back to the late 1970s and he is considered an intrinsic part of the Bemidji Speedway community. Peterson’s impact extends beyond racing, as he also worked as an art teacher and inspired an ABC movie based on his life.
