Denver Broncos waive running back Cody Schrader after preseason finale

The Denver Broncos waived running back Cody Schrader on Sunday, days after his performance in the team's 34-6 preseason victory over the Minnesota Vikings. Despite totaling 132 yards from scrimmage, including 42 rushing yards on 13 carries and 90 receiving yards on six catches with a touchdown, Schrader did not earn a spot on the 53-man active roster. The 26-year-old running back joined the team in December 2025 and signed a futures contract in January 2026. Denver currently lists J.K. Dobbins, RJ Harvey, Jonah Coleman, and Tyler Badie as the running backs on their roster. Schrader, an undrafted free agent out of Missouri, has spent time with five NFL organizations since entering the league. He is now eligible to be claimed by other teams on the waiver wire.
