Denver Nuggets prepare for 2026 NBA Draft after early playoff exit

Summary

The Denver Nuggets face an offseason filled with urgency following a first-round playoff exit. After high expectations after advancing to Game 7 last season against the Oklahoma City Thunder, injuries and inconsistent performance revealed significant weaknesses in their roster. With Nikola Jokić deemed untouchable, the team is exploring major roster changes while limited by cap flexibility. The 2026 NBA Draft, where they hold the 26th and 49th picks, is seen as a critical opportunity for improvement, particularly in defense and ball-handling. Potential draft targets include Meleek Thomas, Dailyn Swain, and Ugonna Onyenso, each addressing specific team needs.
