Denzel Aberdeen wins TRO against NCAA, returns to Florida basketball

Denzel Aberdeen has been granted a temporary restraining order (TRO) by the Alachua County Eighth Circuit Court, allowing him to rejoin the Florida basketball team. The ruling gives Aberdeen a fifth year of eligibility under NCAA's Division I eligibility rule, which entitles athletes to five seasons within a five-year span. Aberdeen's pursuit for this year follows a limited freshman season where he played only 40 minutes over 12 games. Previously, he also played a key role in Florida's national championship team during the 2024-25 season and recently transferred back to Florida after a stint at Kentucky. The NCAA had denied Florida's request for a waiver to restore his freshman eligibility earlier this year, and the situation is developing further.
