Derbyshire restrict Gloucestershire on rain-affected opening day at Bristol

Gloucestershire reached 62-5 at tea on day one of the Rothesay County Championship match in Bristol before rain forced an early conclusion to play. After choosing to bat first, the hosts lost early wickets to Derbyshire seamers Brett Randell and Ben Aitchison, who combined for three dismissals. Spinner Shoaib Bashir added two more wickets, leaving the bottom-of-the-table side in a difficult position. James Bracey finished the day unbeaten on 25 with Ed Middleton on eight. The two will aim to stabilize the innings when play resumes on day two. Only 65 overs were bowled throughout the day due to intermittent rainfall at the Seat Unique Stadium.
