Derek Barnett joins the Cleveland Browns after defensive line injury

Veteran defensive end Derek Barnett signed with the Cleveland Browns on August 23 following a lengthy stint in free agency. The move comes after starting defensive end Alex Wright sustained a season-ending Achilles injury during a joint practice with the Buffalo Bills on August 20. Barnett, a 10-year veteran, enters a familiar defensive scheme that shares elements with systems he played in previously with the Philadelphia Eagles and Houston Texans. Cleveland pursued several other pass rushers throughout the offseason before finalizing the deal with the 30-year-old.
