Desert Edge defeats Notre Dame behind five touchdown passes from Blake Roskopf

Desert Edge improved to 3-0 on the season with a 46-7 win over Notre Dame on Thursday, Sept. 10. Quarterback Blake Roskopf threw five touchdown passes to lead the Scorpions in the 5A football matchup at their home stadium in Goodyear. Notre Dame briefly held a 7-6 lead in the second quarter following a 3-yard rushing touchdown by Austin Bush, marking the first time the Desert Edge defense allowed points all season. The Scorpions responded by scoring 40 unanswered points to pull away. Coach Henri MacArthur noted the defensive lapse was self-inflicted but praised the team's overall effort. Junior edge rusher Jalanie George anchored the defense, which has maintained its effectiveness through the first three games of the year.
