Designer blames changes for limited overtaking at Spanish GP

Jarno Zaffelli, the original designer of the Madring circuit, attributed the lack of overtaking during the Spanish Grand Prix to modifications made after his removal from the project. He pointed to the relocation of curbs, the chosen track surface, and new F1 regulations as contributing factors. The race featured few overtaking attempts despite drivers enjoying the adrenaline of the track. Zaffelli noted that changes he recommended, particularly for a key overtaking point at Turn 5, were not implemented. He expressed concern that the asphalt surface impacted tire management and racing conditions.
