Detroit Lions feature backup quarterback competition in preseason finale

The Detroit Lions face the Indianapolis Colts in their preseason finale as the backup quarterback race intensifies between Luke Altmyer and Josh Dobbs. The competition arose after Teddy Bridgewater's retirement prompted the signing of Dobbs, a nine-year veteran. Altmyer has taken the majority of backup reps during training camp, and coach Dan Campbell emphasizes the need for consistency from both players. The Lions are considering options for roster management to possibly keep both quarterbacks beyond the preseason. The final decision on the backup quarterback will come after evaluating performance in this game.
