Detroit Lions promote Tom Kennedy and sign Natrone Brooks to practice squad

The Detroit Lions finalized their 53-man roster Thursday by promoting wide receiver Tom Kennedy from the practice squad to the active roster. Kennedy is expected to handle punt-return duties during Sunday's season opener against the New Orleans Saints. The team also added defensive back Natrone Brooks to the practice squad to bolster secondary depth. Detroit recently created roster flexibility by waiving Seth McLaughlin and Jabari Small. These moves provide the team with a fifth active receiver and additional insurance for a defensive backfield currently managing several injuries. The Lions are set for their Week 1 matchup with a complete 53-man roster.
