Detroit Lions release veteran linebacker Troy Reeder and waive tight end Zach Horton

The Detroit Lions initiated roster cuts on Sunday afternoon as the team works toward meeting league requirements. The team released veteran linebacker Troy Reeder, who competed for a depth position following an injury to Damone Clark. Reeder is not subject to waivers and may sign with any organization. Additionally, the team waived tight end Zach Horton. Horton previously cleared waivers after being cut earlier in the training camp and recently performed at fullback during the preseason finale. He remains subject to waivers and could return to the practice squad if he clears. Other depth players currently competing for the remaining linebacker roster spots include Joe Bachie, Amen Ogbongbemiga, Trevor Nowaske, and Erick Hunter. The team continues to evaluate its roster composition through the latest series of personnel moves.
