Detroit Lions sign Tyre West and 13 others to practice squad

The Detroit Lions signed defensive lineman Tyre West to the team's practice squad on Monday. West, who played at Tennessee from 2022 to 2025, was originally selected by Detroit in the seventh round of the April NFL draft. He was waived by the organization on Sunday following the conclusion of the preseason. The Lions added 13 other players to the practice squad alongside West. Those signings include quarterback Luke Altmyer, linebacker Joe Bachie, defensive back Aamaris Brown, offensive lineman Devin Cochran, tight end Thomas Gordon, wide receivers Lucky Jackson and Tom Kennedy, edge Anthony Lucas, guard Mason Miller, linebacker Amen Ogbongbemiga, and defensive linemen Chris Smith and Ben Stille. Cornerback Nick Whiteside also joined the unit. The team begins its 2026 regular season schedule against the New Orleans Saints on Sept. 13 at Ford Field.
