Detroit Lions staff members project team offensive MVP for 2026 season

As the Detroit Lions prepare for the 2026 NFL season, staff analysts have released their projections for the team's offensive most valuable player. A majority of the staff identified running back Jahmyr Gibbs as the primary candidate for the award, citing his expanded workload and the absence of David Montgomery from the roster. Some analysts projected that Gibbs could contend for NFL Offensive Player of the Year honors as he takes on more carries and passing targets. Conversely, other staff members selected quarterback Jared Goff, highlighting his veteran reliability and command of the offense. Receiver Jameson Williams also received consideration as a potential MVP if he increases his explosive play volume. The team opens the season this week with the full schedule of games beginning shortly.
