Detroit attempted to move him through rehab assignments in Lakeland and Triple-A Toledo in August, but the effort was abandoned when his vision failed to return to normal. The team is now prioritizing his long-term health over any late-season appearances. His absence leaves the Tigers to evaluate other outfield options as they look toward roster construction for the next year.
