Developer proposes riverfront site for potential new Chicago White Sox stadium

The concept includes a potential new stadium for the Chicago White Sox, alongside residential, commercial, and retail space. The White Sox confirmed the organization is reviewing the proposal as part of its exploration of future ballpark locations, though the team noted it remains in early stages. Local officials, including Cook County Commissioner John P. Daley and 11th Ward Ald. Nicole Lee, expressed opposition to the relocation, arguing for the modernization of the existing Rate Field. Conversely, 28th Ward Ald. Jason Ervin suggested the project could spur economic development in the area. The team will evaluate the findings of a multi-month study conducted by the developer before considering the site as a formal option alongside other locations.
