Devon Witherspoon's contract extension with Seahawks remains unresolved

As of July 30, 2026, three-time Pro Bowl cornerback Devon Witherspoon has yet to secure a contract extension with the Seattle Seahawks. The seventh day of training camp concluded without an agreement despite expectations for a deal before camp began. Witherspoon is entering the final year of his four-year rookie contract, which includes a guaranteed fifth-year option valued at $21.16 million for 2027. The cornerback market is currently in flux, complicating negotiations, particularly due to recent contracts that may set new benchmarks for Witherspoon's agents. Coach Mike Macdonald expressed admiration for Witherspoon's commitment and maturity during camp, where he has been actively participating in drills.
