The German Football Federation (DFB) announced on Friday that it will no longer absorb expenses related to police deployments during high-risk fixtures. Under a new executive committee policy, the governing body plans to pass these costs to home clubs on at least a pro-rata basis if the organization receives a bill for police services. The decision follows a legal precedent in the state of Bremen, which the Federal Constitutional Court upheld as lawful for event organizers. With the Saarland state government also considering similar legislation, the DFB enacted this policy to prepare for future fee structures. DFB President Bernd Neuendorf stated that the association opposes charging for police services, arguing that such fees do not improve local security or reduce the necessary hours for law enforcement presence at matches.
