Diamondbacks activate Corbin Burnes from injured list for Tuesday start

The Arizona Diamondbacks activated starting pitcher Corbin Burnes from the 60-day injured list on September 8. Burnes, who has been sidelined since June 1, 2025, following Tommy John surgery, is scheduled to make his return to the mound against the Kansas City Royals on Tuesday night. To make room on the roster, the organization added pitcher Kade Strowo from Triple-A while optioning pitchers Gerardo Carrillo and Jose Cabrera. Currently holding a 77-68 record, the Diamondbacks maintain the third National League Wild Card spot with a narrow half-game advantage over the San Diego Padres. Burnes signed a six-year, $210 million contract with Arizona before the 2025 season and maintains an opt-out clause following the conclusion of this year. He joins a rotation currently anchored by Eduardo Rodriguez, who holds a 15-5 record.
