Diamondbacks release veteran pitcher Zack Littell after poor performance

The Arizona Diamondbacks have released right-hander Zack Littell, a nine-year major league veteran. Arizona designated Littell for assignment on Sunday after he pitched just 12 innings with a 7.50 ERA, yielding 10 earned runs and five home runs during his time with the team. Littell had started the season with the Washington Nationals, where he had a 4.97 ERA in 23 appearances. He was signed to a major league contract by the Diamondbacks earlier this year but may only receive minor league offers following his release.
