Diana Edulji calls for Smriti Mandhana to lead India in all formats

Former India captain Diana Edulji has advocated for Smriti Mandhana to replace Harmanpreet Kaur as the captain of the national women's team across all three formats. Edulji’s call follows Mandhana’s performance on Thursday in Dubai, where she scored 124 against Hong Kong in the Women's Asia Cup. During this innings, Mandhana became the leading run-scorer in women's international cricket, surpassing the previous record held by Mithali Raj. Mandhana also set a new mark for the most international centuries with 18. While Edulji cited the need for a leadership transition due to Harmanpreet's age and current form, the national selectors have retained Harmanpreet as captain for the ongoing Asia Cup and the upcoming Asian Games. Mandhana has previously stated she is ready for the captaincy, though team management has expressed support for the existing leadership structure.
