Diarmaid Byrnes and Gearoid Hegarty nominated for Hurler of the Year

Diarmaid Byrnes and Gearoid Hegarty from Limerick will compete with Cork's Brian Hayes for the Hurler of the Year award at the GAA's All-Star awards on October 30. Byrnes and Hegarty, both previous winners, helped lead Limerick to the Munster and National League titles this year. Tipperary leads with 13 All-Star nominations, while Galway follows with 11. In total, eight counties have nominations, including Cork, Clare, Dublin, Offaly, Waterford, and Kilkenny. The Young Hurler of the Year nominees include Cork's William Buckley and Galway's Jason Rabbitte and Cillian Travers.
