Díaz homers, Aranda's single lifts Rays over Red Sox 3-1

Yandy Díaz hit a leadoff home run and drove in two runs as the Tampa Bay Rays secured a 3-1 victory over the Boston Red Sox on Monday night in St. Petersburg. Jonathan Aranda contributed the go-ahead run with a single in the fifth inning, breaking a 1-1 tie. Díaz opened the scoring with his fourth leadoff homer of the season in the first inning. The Rays’ opener, Ian Seymour, allowed one run over four innings. Their bullpen shut out the Red Sox for the remainder of the game. The Rays improved their record to 5-0 when employing an opener and 29-1 when leading after seven innings. The teams will face off again on Tuesday, with Nick Martinez starting for Tampa Bay.
