Dickson Abiyama has signed a permanent contract with Rot-Weiss Essen after transferring from Kaiserslautern. The Nigerian striker scored six goals and provided four assists in just 14 appearances for Essen in the 3. Liga last season. Despite his individual success, Rot-Weiss Essen failed to earn promotion to the 2. Bundesliga, losing in the playoff to Greuther Fürth, Abiyama's former club. He has secured a two-year deal with an option for a third season, returning to a club where he previously had a loan stint.
