Diego Leon gets chance as Man United seeks defensive cover

Summary

Diego Leon made his first appearance of the season for Manchester United in a behind-closed-doors friendly against FC Lausanne-Sport on October 3. As injuries have mounted, manager Michael Carrick fielded a makeshift team with many first-team players away on international duty. Alongside Leon, Carlos Baleba and Matthijs de Ligt also made key appearances, gaining valuable game minutes. Leon's participation follows a lack of playtime this season, raising the possibility of him featuring more as United prepares for their next match against Tottenham. Carrick's son, Jayce, also made his first-team debut in the same match.
