"Dillian Whyte did make it past the opening round in his fight with Moses Itauma. | Getty Images British heavyweight Dillian Whyte was wiped out in one round against Moses Itauma in August 2025, and now he tells Sky Sports that he entered that fight physically compromised. Whyte says he suffered a foot injury heading into the Itauma fight, first hurting it during a run. When he would go to spar later that day he said one false move backwards caused a clean fracture. “It was terrible, but we’re used to pulling off miracles. We’re used to fighting injured. I made the best of the situation and had a decent camp. I felt good during fight week and really thought I would beat Moses.” Whyte continued on by revealing that he even refractured his foot in the dressing room, warming up to head into the Itauma fight. At that point Whyte says a doctor had to come take a look at him and advised him against fighting, but he refused to back out at the very last second after flying all the way to Saudi for the event. “I was confident that I would still be able to drag Moses into the later rounds and stop him as [Filip] Hrgovic recently did.” Although he never immediately mentioned his physical condition for that fight, Whyte says he didn’t want to take away from Itauma’s performance but that people probably wouldn’t judge him so harshly if they knew the full circumstances surrounding the fight. For now, Whyte has no immediate plans of retirement and suggested that he’d be interested in making a fight against Johnny Fisher in the near future. Whether or not that makes any real progress, time will tell.
"Dillian Whyte believed he was good enough to best Moses Itauma, even while injured.
