Dion Waiters reveals Kevin Durant discussed returning to Oklahoma City Thunder

Former Oklahoma City Thunder guard Dion Waiters stated that Kevin Durant messaged teammates about reuniting for the 2017 season shortly after the 2016 playoffs. Waiters, who had been considering contract offers, claimed he was willing to bypass a multi-year deal to play one more season with the core group. Despite the reported interest in keeping the roster together, Durant signed with the Golden State Warriors in July. The Oklahoma City Thunder ultimately failed to advance past the first round of the postseason in the years following Durant’s departure. Russell Westbrook remained the team’s leader until his exit in 2019 and recently announced his retirement from the NBA. Durant is currently entering his 19th season as a member of the Houston Rockets.
