Dodgers acquire Tarik Skubal from Tigers for three minor leaguers

Summary

The Los Angeles Dodgers have traded three minor leaguers to the Detroit Tigers for pitcher Tarik Skubal. The deal comes amid concerns about the Dodgers' financial power in MLB, as they secured one of the top players available without giving up any highly-ranked prospects. The players included in the trade are outfielder Zyhir Hope, pitcher River Ryan, and pitcher Brady Smith, none of whom were ranked among the league’s top 20 prospects. This trade is significant as Skubal is expected to contribute to the Dodgers in the playoff race, with his contract set to only cost $9 million for the remainder of the season.
