Dodgers place Dalton Rushing on injured list following failed return

The Los Angeles Dodgers placed catcher and designated hitter Dalton Rushing on the injured list Saturday, just days after reinstating him on Sept. 1. Rushing, who spent a month recovering from a partial UCL tear, participated in four games as a designated hitter before experiencing issues during a throwing session. He failed to record a hit in his four recent at-bats. In a corresponding move, the club recalled catcher Eliezer Alfonzo from Triple-A to bolster roster depth. Rushing previously served as the primary catcher following an injury to Will Smith and maintained a 123 wRC+ with 12 home runs over 74 games this season. The team continues to carry Smith and Hunter Feduccia on the active roster while Alfonzo joins as a switch-hitting depth option.
