Dodgers place Edwin Diaz on injured list, promote Emmet Sheehan

The Los Angeles Dodgers have placed closer Edwin Diaz on the injured list and are promoting Triple-A right-hander Emmet Sheehan. Diaz has struggled this season with an 11.85 ERA and four blown saves since signing a three-year, $69 million contract. Emmet Sheehan had a 5.29 ERA in 95.1 innings over 20 starts this season. He will provide bullpen help as the Dodgers face the Colorado Rockies on August 18. Diaz has made just 16 appearances this year due to an elbow procedure and has allowed 11 runs in his last 6.2 innings.
