Dodgers place Shohei Ohtani on 15-day injured list with multiple injuries

The Los Angeles Dodgers placed Shohei Ohtani on the 15-day injured list Wednesday due to persistent left knee and right biceps issues. Ohtani missed six of the team's last seven games before the roster move, which prevents his return to the lineup until at least the final week of the regular season. Manager Dave Roberts stated that medical staff did not believe the outfielder would be in a better condition without the extended rest. As a corresponding move, the club is calling up outfielder Josue De Paula from Double-A Tulsa to fill the roster spot. Ohtani struggled at the plate recently, batting.122 with no home runs over his last 13 games. The Dodgers currently lead the National League West by 11 games and hold an 89-57 record as they pursue a third consecutive championship.
