Dodgers' Will Smith, Dalton Rushing make progress in injury recoveries

Will Smith and Dalton Rushing of the Los Angeles Dodgers have both shown signs of recovery from their injuries as of August 15, 2026. Smith, who has been sidelined with an inflamed disc in his neck, took batting practice after a lengthy absence. He is expected to begin a rehab assignment soon if his neck allows. Rushing returned to batting practice as well after experiencing a slight tear in his UCL and is working towards the possibility of pinch-hitting or catching this season. The team hopes both players can return before the postseason, though Rushing’s future remains uncertain pending further evaluation of his throwing ability. Shohei Ohtani also threw a bullpen session in his progression.
