The Miami Dolphins acquired quarterback Kyle McCord from the Green Bay Packers on August 30 in exchange for a 2028 sixth-round draft pick. This move follows the team’s decision to trade Quinn Ewers to the Jacksonville Jaguars and the release of reserve quarterbacks Cam Miller and Mark Gronowski. McCord, who originally joined the Philadelphia Eagles as a 2025 draft pick before moving to the Green Bay Packers on a reserve/futures contract, will serve as the backup to starter Malik Willis. Analysts offered mixed reactions to the addition, with some praising the acquisition while others expressed uncertainty regarding McCord's lack of regular-season experience. The Dolphins opted for the change after determining their backup quarterback situation required adjustment heading into the upcoming season. McCord now prepares to transition into the backup role for the Miami Dolphins roster.
