Dolphins release Clelin Ferrell after claiming seven players off of waivers

The Miami Dolphins released edge rusher Clelin Ferrell on August 31, 2026, following a series of roster adjustments. The move came one day after the deadline for NFL teams to trim their rosters to 53 players. Miami claimed seven new players from the waiver wire, including quarterback Brady Cook, tight end Justin Joly, and defensive backs Marcellas Dial, Reese Taylor, and Julius Wood. Offensive tackles Chukwuebuka Godrick and Jarrett Kingston were also added to the team. To accommodate these arrivals, the Dolphins released Ferrell and cornerback A.J. Green III while waiving several other players, including Ethan Bonner and Marques Cox. Ferrell, a former fourth overall draft pick, joined Miami this past July. The team plans to proceed at the edge position with Robert Beal Jr. and Malik Herring.
