Dolphins sign Will Sheppard and Jaylin Simpson to practice squad

The Miami Dolphins added wide receiver Will Sheppard and cornerback Jaylin Simpson to their practice squad on September 1. Both players were released by the Green Bay Packers during roster cuts on August 30. Sheppard, an undrafted player in 2025, recorded nine receptions for 73 yards and two touchdowns during the preseason. Simpson, a 26-year-old defensive back, totaled eight tackles for the Packers in 2026. These signings continue a trend of the Dolphins organization adding personnel with previous Green Bay ties, including general manager Jon-Eric Sullivan, head coach Jeff Hafley, and several rostered players. Multiple other former Packers were signed to different team practice squads this week, including Darian Kinnard with the New York Giants and Messiah Swinson with the Cleveland Browns.
