Dolphins waive running back Jarquez Hunter three days after trade

Summary

The Miami Dolphins waived running back Jarquez Hunter on August 30, 2026, just three days after acquiring him in a trade with the Los Angeles Rams. The deal originally sent receiver Tutu Atwell to the Los Angeles Rams in exchange for Hunter. Both players were considered potential roster cuts before the exchange occurred. Tutu Atwell secured a spot on the Los Angeles Rams' 53-man roster on Sunday after the team opted to retain him. Jarquez Hunter now enters the waiver process, where the Los Angeles Rams could potentially reclaim him. If he clears waivers, the Miami Dolphins may look to add him to their practice squad.
