Donovan Walton hits walk-off home run as Athletics defeat Mariners 6-5

The Athletics defeated the Mariners 6-5 in ten innings on September 11 at Sutter Health Park in West Sacramento. After the Mariners took an early lead with small-ball tactics against starting pitcher Jeffrey Springs, the Athletics responded with RBI contributions from Jeff McNeil and Max Muncy in the first inning. Lawrence Butler later added a two-run home run in the third to build a 4-2 lead. The Mariners tied the game in the sixth inning and eventually forced extra frames, scoring once in the top of the tenth to take a brief lead. Donovan Walton secured the victory for the Athletics in the bottom of the tenth with a walk-off two-run home run. The two teams are scheduled to continue their series at the same venue on September 12 with Gage Jump starting for the Athletics.
