DQ Smith enters transfer portal after fifth year eligibility granted

Former South Carolina football safety DQ Smith has entered the transfer portal as of August 23. This move follows a Louisiana court order on August 19, which granted an extra year of eligibility to over 30 athletes, including Smith. The court ruling particularly affects those who were freshmen in the 2022-23 academic season. Smith has reportedly received multiple invitations to NFL minicamps after the ruling. He was a significant player for South Carolina, and his next steps in collegiate football are yet to be determined.
