Dragon Lee avoids conflict amid Chad Gable's ongoing apology tour
Summary

During Monday's Raw, Dragon Lee addressed Chad Gable's apology following a controversial series of matches. Despite Gable winning twice against Lee and winning the Speed Championship from him on Cinco de Mayo, Lee expressed no desire for retribution, saying, 'We’re good, man, we’re good.' Gable, who has drawn criticism for mocking lucha culture, later saved Rey Mysterio from a confrontation, further complicating Lee's narrative as the future of lucha libre. Analysts suggest that Lee may benefit from taking a more assertive stance akin to Bret Hart’s long-held grudges against those he believes have wronged him.

What they're saying
"

Dragon Lee could learn a thing or two about holding a grudge from Bret Hart. | (Photo: WWE) They say holding on to anger is like drinking poison and expecting the other person to die. Clearly, these people haven’t met Bret Hart. It’s been almost 30 years since Hart was screwed out of the WWE Championship by Vince McMahon, Shawn Michaels, and, to a lesser degree, Triple H. Despite reconciling with the company and appearing several times as an inductee and presenter at the WWE Hall of Fame, Hart never misses an opportunity to bash McMahon, Michaels, or Triple H. The same goes for Bill Goldberg, the man Hart holds responsible for ending his career with an errant kick at WCW’s Starrcade in 1999. And don’t even get him started on Hulk Hogan. While Hart often comes off as bitter, he seems to be living his best life, appearing happiest when he digs at those who wronged him. Petty as that may seem, I respect that about “The Hitman.” Even if I don’t agree with him on certain points, I admire him for sticking to his principles. You can call it holding a grudge, but it’s also an unwavering commitment to what’s right. Respect, Bret. The same can’t be said for Dragon Lee, though. He’d rather avoid a little sip of poison than stand up for what’s right. At least in kayfabe. Chad Gable’s apology tour after losing his mask and identity as the OG Grande Americano continued Monday on Raw. After making an act of contrition with Penta, he approached Rey Mysterio and Dragon Lee, who was quick to address Gable before Rey even spoke. “We’re good, man, we’re good,” Lee said. They’re good. Despite Gable — as Americano — going 2-0 against Lee and taking his mask, the ultimate no-no in lucha culture. To add further insult, Gable robbed Lee of the Speed Championship on Cinco de Mayo. Let that sink in. Chad Gable, poorly disguised as a luchador and openly mocking Mexican culture, cheated Lee out of a title on Cinco de Mayo. That’s like Hart getting screwed out of the WWE Championship on Canada Day. Later in the show, Gable saved Mysterio from a mugging by Ethan Page and Rusev that resulted in the Hall of Famer having his mask ripped off. Lee tried to make a save but failed. Instead, it was Gable who was the hero. Every week, Michael Cole calls Lee the future of lucha libre. After Monday, that future looks awfully dim because there’s no fire in this dragon. For his sake, Lee should take a page from Gable. Go to Canada, learn the “dark arts” of the Dungeon, and change his gimmick to El Dragón Canadiense. Maybe then Lee will learn to show some Hart.
