Drew Gonzalez was selected by the New York Yankees in the sixth round of the 2026 MLB Draft on July 12. The El Paso native played third base and shortstop for Americas High School, where he was named the All-City MVP. In his senior year, Gonzalez recorded 13 home runs and 54 RBIs, leading his team to the Class 5A, Division 1 regional finals. The Yankees and other teams had shown interest in him prior to the draft. If Gonzalez does not sign with the Yankees, he is committed to play at Texas Tech University.
